Château La Mission-Haut-Brion is one of the most revered properties in Bordeaux and is in the very highest echelon of Graves producers. The blend this year was made of 30.1% Sauvignon Blanc and 69.9% Sémillon. A beautiful, dry white, the bouquet is dominated by wonderfully ripe fruit and hints of lime. Starts out broad-based and delicious on the palate, becoming rich and full-bodied, underpinned by a discreet yet efficient streak of acidity until the finish. This La Mission vintage undoubtedly has further surprises in store that will be revealed after several years of ageing.
97 The Wine Independent
The 2019 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, 69.9% Semillon and 30.1% Sauvignon Blanc, is locked tight on the nose to begin, eventually offering glimpses at lime leaves and sea spray with wafts of white pepper and dill seed. Medium-bodied, the palate has plenty of tension and mineral layers, finishing savory.Lisa Perrotti-Brown1st May 2023

Hard to fault this gorgeous wine, with white peach, citrus, fleshy pear and apricot pit, along with the fennel and crushed sage that add a welcome touch of bitterness. A crisp pulse of minerality keeps things moving through the palate, and this is seductive and vibrant, playing with you and keeping you engaged.Jane Anson13th January 2022

The 2019 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc has quite an intense nose with apple blossom, flint and slice Williams pear scents that develop with aeration. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, quite steely with a gooseberry and spicy finish that is driven by the Sauvignon Blanc. It's backward and close but the breeding is there. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Neal Martin1st February 2023

Long Lived Reds and Whites

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the preeminent estates in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is renowned for producing exceptionally concentrated and long-lived wines. The prestigious first label, La Mission Haut-Brion, is a near equal blend of Cabernet and Merlot, giving wonderfully focused wines with bramble and floral character. This illustrious estate also produces a stellar second label, La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.

Two beautiful whites are made: La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, which is a aromatic, Sémillon-dominant blend with beautiful citrus and stone fruit, and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from the Château Haut-Brion estate).
