La Mission Haut-Brion 2015 is composed of 53% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc, exhibiting a deep garnet hue. The nose reveals an array of aromas, including ripe black cherries, dark berries and subtle hints of graphite. On the palate, it presents a structured format, merging notes of dark fruit with earthy undertones and gentle spice. The tannins are firm yet refined, providing a solid backbone. La Mission Haut-Brion is a legendary Cru Classé de Graves often referred to as an `honorary First Growth` due to its exceptional quality, frequently rivaling its illustrious neighbor, Château Haut-Brion, with which it shares ownership under Domaine Clarence Dillon.

The deep garnet-purple colored 2015 La Mission Haut-Brion is a blend of 58% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Youthfully mute with bright, youthful red currants, black raspberries, cassis and freshly crushed blackberries notions, it slowly unfurls to reveal an earthy/minerally undercurrent of damp soil, charcoal, iron ore and truffles plus a waft of violets. Medium to full-bodied, decadently fruited and yet wonderfully elegant with very ripe, very silky tannins, freshness that sits well in the background and an almost electric intensity of vibrant red and black fruit flavors, it finishes long and minerally. Just. Beautiful. Consider giving it 6-7 years in bottle before broaching and drink it over the next 30+. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

A notch less muscular than the Haut-Brion, exceptionally finessed and textured, satin and slate, push and pull, crushed rose petals, soy and smoked earth. Great quality, love the mandarin peel bitterness that gives lift through the finish, and the waves of floral aromatics that linger in your palate after the wine has gone. An exceptional wine with pleasure on its mind. Jean-Philippe Delmas director, 78% new oak for ageing.Jane Anson19th February 2025

The 2015 La Mission Haut-Brion has a supremely gifted bouquet with vigorous blackberry, pencil box and cedar scents that seem to have moved little since I last tasted it in 2019. The palate is medium-bodied, very ripe and actually much toastier than I remembered. This has pliant tannins and the savory element I picked up on before is now accentuated. That shaves some of the enjoyment away on the finish, hence my score. Tasted at the 2015 Ten-Year-On tasting at Bordeaux Index. Neal Martin3rd June 2025

58% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. Picked from 9 September to 1 October. Very dark and glamorous-looking. Fairly dumb nose but obviously great weight and intensity. A big brooding monster! Massive charge of tannins. Big and pretty alcoholic on the end. Not very communicative at the moment. Lots of palate-tanning tannins. After a while in the glass, a whiff of cordite emerged. Sorcery?! (JR)

Long Lived Reds and Whites

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the preeminent estates in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is renowned for producing exceptionally concentrated and long-lived wines. The prestigious first label, La Mission Haut-Brion, is a near equal blend of Cabernet and Merlot, giving wonderfully focused wines with bramble and floral character. This illustrious estate also produces a stellar second label, La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.

Two beautiful whites are made: La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, which is a aromatic, Sémillon-dominant blend with beautiful citrus and stone fruit, and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from the Château Haut-Brion estate).
