La Lagune 2009 is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant red wine from the Haut-Médoc region of Bordeaux. This wine is produced by Château La Lagune, a Third Growth estate founded in 1855. The vineyard spans 60 hectares and benefits from a unique terroir defined by its gravelly soils. The blend comprises 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Aged in 50% new oak barrels, the 2009 vintage reveals a structured profile with an evolving complexity. This wine is drinking well now, with notable characteristics of ripe fruit, tobacco and hints of earthiness. Available here in double magnum format.

Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 la Lagune opens with a an earthy, Band-Aid and menthol-laced nose with a core of crème de cassis, plum preserves and Provence herbs plus a waft of tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, with a pleasant earth-laced palate, it has appealing layers and harmony, if it tails off just a little rustic. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
