Château La Couspaude 2000 is a full-bodied Merlot-based red wine produced in the St-Emilion appellation of Bordeaux. La Couspaude is a St-Emilion Grand Cru property located in the heart of St-Emilion village. Its seven hectares, which are entirely enclosed by walls, are planted to 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon - as is reflected in the assemblage of the grand vin, which is matured for 18 months in new French Oak barrels. "This is a lavishly fruity, toasty, seductive wine with no hard edges. It possesses terrific fat and a sweet, opulent, multi-layered style. Possessing a dense ruby/purple colour along with copious quantities of black cherry liqueur, espresso, mineral, oak, and roasted nut characteristics, this layered, voluptuous, full-throttle effort should be drinkable in 2-3 years and last for 16+. A full-bodied wine, it is serious stuff." Wine Advocate, 2003
