First produced in 1991, La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is the second wine of illustrious Pessac-Léognan estate, Château La Mission Haut-Brion. The 2017 is a medium-bodied, structured and fresh release composed of 49.2% Merlot, 41.9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8.9% Cabernet Franc. With far greater earlier drinking appeal, this should be ready to consume within the next few years and can be expected to develop nicely over the next decade or so.
92 Vinous
The 2017 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is aromatic, vibrant and fresh, but it has plenty of stuffing as well. Dried herbs, menthol, licorice, tobacco and cedar add pretty savory notes. Pliant, lifted and vibrant in feel, La Chappelle is an absolutely stellar second wine.Antonio Galloni1st March 2020
91 Jancis Robinson
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion, a blend of 49.2% Merlot, 8.9% Cabernet Franc and 41.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, needs a little coaxing to reveal notes of wild blueberries, redcurrant jelly, ripe plums and star anise with hints of red roses and vanilla pod plus a waft of Sichuan pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate has a serious structure of refreshing acidity and ripe, grainy tannins supporting the many delicate nuances, finishing with a lively lift.Lisa Perrotti-Brown16th March 2020

Long Lived Reds and Whites

Château La Mission Haut-Brion is one of the preeminent estates in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is renowned for producing exceptionally concentrated and long-lived wines. The prestigious first label, La Mission Haut-Brion, is a near equal blend of Cabernet and Merlot, giving wonderfully focused wines with bramble and floral character. This illustrious estate also produces a stellar second label, La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion.

Two beautiful whites are made: La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, which is a aromatic, Sémillon-dominant blend with beautiful citrus and stone fruit, and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from the Château Haut-Brion estate).
