Krug 1995 was the second vintage of the decade, released after Krug 1990, and it is a blend of 35% Chardonnay, 48% Pinot Noir and 17% Pinot Meunier. On the nose, it combines fruit ripeness and delicacy, with fragrant hints of white flowers, freshly baked gingerbread and candied fruits alongside ripe melon. The palate is generous and rounded, displaying hints of almonds and honey, balanced with fresh citrus fruits, such as pink grapefruit, enhanced by a remarkable finish.

The 1995 Krug is gorgeous. I chose it because one of my guests loves Krug and I thought the 1995 would have the right amount of complexity to pair beautifully with the smokiness in Saison’s caviar. Although the 1995 Krug is not a truly epic wine, it is in a sweet spot right now.Antonio Galloni1st December 2018

Elegant Luxury

A Champagne house that needs no introduction. Founded by Johann Krug in Reims in 1843, this celebrated Maison specialises in prestige cuvées, including the multi-vintage flagship Grande Cuvée as well as the glorious Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Another highlight is the highly coveted Clos du Mesnil - a rare Blanc de Blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot of Chardonnay grapes in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Krug has been owned by LVMH since 1999.

While Krug's excellent Grande Cuvée and Rosé have historically been released as multi-vintage blends with no indication of year, the team have now started including edition numbers so consumers can easily discover the age and provenance of the base wines used in the blend.
