Krug Grande Cuvée is re-created every year and is a blend of 120 individual wines from more than 10 different vintages. The 167ème Édition was composed around 2011 harvest with a selection of reserve wines making up 42% of the final blend. Aromas of flowers, dried and fresh citrus, marzipan and gingerbread. Stunning alongside aged Comté.

The NV Grande Cuvée 167ème Édition, based on the 2011 vintage, shows just how much can be accomplished in Champagne through the art of the blend. This release includes 191 wines back to 1995 and a relatively low presence (42%) of the base year. But its the whole that counts more than the sum of the parts. In fact, I prefer this wine to the 2011 Vintage. All the elements are so nicely balanced. Citrus, white flowers, mint, white pepper and slate are some of the many notes that build in the glass. Disgorged: Summer 2018. Krug ID: 318036.Antonio Galloni26th March 2024

Elegant Luxury

A Champagne house that needs no introduction. Founded by Johann Krug in Reims in 1843, this celebrated Maison specialises in prestige cuvées, including the multi-vintage flagship Grande Cuvée as well as the glorious Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Another highlight is the highly coveted Clos du Mesnil - a rare Blanc de Blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot of Chardonnay grapes in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Krug has been owned by LVMH since 1999.

While Krug's excellent Grande Cuvée and Rosé have historically been released as multi-vintage blends with no indication of year, the team have now started including edition numbers so consumers can easily discover the age and provenance of the base wines used in the blend.
