The Krug Collection 1979 is a vintage expression of Champagne from a vintage shaped by a challenging winter and cool spring, which transitioned to favourable conditions in mid-summer. This release exemplifies Krug`s meticulous craftsmanship, having been cellared in their chalk cellars for decades prior to disgorgement. Comprised of a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, the proportions reflect Krug`s signature multi-terroir philosophy. The magnum format ensures a slower maturation process, enhancing complexity.

The 1979 Collection was explosive, rich and layered, with a kaleidoscopic array of aromas and flavors, and long, exceptionally pure finish. It was pure magic. Antonio Galloni1st July 2009

Elegant Luxury

A Champagne house that needs no introduction. Founded by Johann Krug in Reims in 1843, this celebrated Maison specialises in prestige cuvées, including the multi-vintage flagship Grande Cuvée as well as the glorious Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Another highlight is the highly coveted Clos du Mesnil - a rare Blanc de Blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot of Chardonnay grapes in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Krug has been owned by LVMH since 1999.

While Krug's excellent Grande Cuvée and Rosé have historically been released as multi-vintage blends with no indication of year, the team have now started including edition numbers so consumers can easily discover the age and provenance of the base wines used in the blend.
