Krug 1985 holds a special place in the history of the House, as Henri Krug, the fifth generation of the Krug family and President of the House from 1977 to 2002, considered it one of the most challenging years to recreate Krug Grande Cuvée. Today, Krug 1985, now known as Krug Collection 1985, has transformed into a champagne that beautifully blends richness and intensity with freshness and vitality. This extraordinary evolution has resulted in a release that captivates with its complexity and dynamic character.

Tasted from magnum, the 1985 Krug Collection is a poignant reminder of just how well Champagne ages in the big bottle. Extraordinarily complex and yet so subtle, the 1985 is utterly captivating. A slight hint of Burgundian reduction adds aromatic nuance and intrigue as this stellar, silky Champagne shows off its pure pedigree. The 1985 is at a glorious peak of expression, but has more than enough freshness to drink well for another 10-15 years, perhaps more. What a wine.Antonio Galloni1st December 2016

Elegant Luxury

A Champagne house that needs no introduction. Founded by Johann Krug in Reims in 1843, this celebrated Maison specialises in prestige cuvées, including the multi-vintage flagship Grande Cuvée as well as the glorious Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, made exclusively from Pinot Noir. Another highlight is the highly coveted Clos du Mesnil - a rare Blanc de Blancs produced only in exceptional years from a single, tiny 1.84ha plot of Chardonnay grapes in the heart of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Krug has been owned by LVMH since 1999.

While Krug's excellent Grande Cuvée and Rosé have historically been released as multi-vintage blends with no indication of year, the team have now started including edition numbers so consumers can easily discover the age and provenance of the base wines used in the blend.
