JM Sélèque Solessence Extra Brut NV is a non-vintage Champagne crafted from Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir sourced from several premier sites in Côteaux Sud d’Épernay. Operational since the 1960s, JM Sélèque utilises organic practices under Jean-Marc Sélèque, who advocates for low yields and parcel-specific vinification. The wine undergoes fermentation with native yeasts in oak before a minimal dosage, highlighting the terroir`s character and resulting in a refined, expressive Champagne meant for connoisseurs.

The NV Brut Nature Solessence Nature 7 Villages is a blend of old-vine Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir bottled with no dosage. Time in the cellar (the base vintage is 2014) gives the wine a natural feeling of richness and depth that is quite compelling. Dried lemon, chamomile, crushed flowers and herbs lend a very pretty savory character throughout. This is such a pretty and expressive Champagne. Disgorged: October, 2019.

Based on the 2022 vintage and enhanced by 50% reserve wines aged in a perpetual reserve initiated in 2004, Sélèque’s NV Extra Brut Solessence exudes a bouquet of ripe citrus, peach and freshly baked bread. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, broad and textural, with a generous core of fruit underpinned by ripe yet lively acidity, exhibiting a phenolic structure and an assertive bitterness on the finish. Vinified in equal parts stainless steel and oak, it was disgorged in August 2024 with a dosage of 1.5 grams per liter. The blend comprises nearly equal proportions of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, with an additional 10% Pinot Noir. - Kristaps Karklins
