With a viticultural history dating back to 1935, the Faurie family has deep roots in Hermitage. Continuing this legacy, Bernard Faurie meticulously oversees three parcels in this prestigious Rhône region. Bessards, Méal, and Gréffieux. This particular 2007 Hermitage offers up a perfumed nose, with hints of raspberries and flowers. On the palate, smoky and meaty notes, complemented by mature, developed stewed fruit. The tannins are very fine, offering a slightly drying sensation. The finish is lingering and slightly smoky.

Vinous
(L09223; a blend of Bessards and Meal; bottled with a red capsule) Vivid ruby. Sexy, penetrating aromas of raspberry, candied cherry, incense and anise. Lively red fruit flavors are given spine by tangy minerality and show a suave note of candied flowers on the back half. The finish is spicy, nervy and extremely persistent. Faurie thinks that this wine is both more accessible and more ageworthy than the white-capsule bottling.Josh Raynolds1st January 2010
