Henri Giraud Fut de Chene MV Rosé NV is crafted from 100% Grand Cru grapes, primarily from the region of Aÿ. This Champagne is fermented and aged in oak barrels from the Argonne forest, which contributes to its texture and complexity. An assemblage of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay forms the basis of this wine, with 33% reserve wines enhancing complexity. The wine undergoes two years of lees aging, resulting in a well-integrated style.

The MV Rosé Fût de Chêne shows all of the richness and gamy intensity of Pinot Noir with a few years of age, along with the added complexity of 30% reserve wines that round out the blend. Rich and vinous in the glass, with remarkable nuance, the Rosé Fût de Chêne is a total knock-out. I especially like the juxtaposition of Pinot intensity with a sense of airiness and grace that is impossible to miss. The Rosé is built on a base of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay to which 6% of still Pinot is added. It is an incredibly versatile Champagne that it sure to please. I loved it. Dosage is 6 grams per liter. Disgorged: October 1, 2020.Antonio Galloni1st November 2021

Based on the 2018 vintage, the NV Aÿ Grand Cru Fût de Chêne Brut MV Rosé reveals enticing aromas of pastry, peony, red berries, blood orange and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, it is both elegant and elegantly tannic, with a layered and tense structure supported by bright acidity and a long, ethereal finish. This blend consists of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, and it was disgorged in February 2023. - Yohan Castaing

A Boutique Grand Marque

The Giraud-Hémart family have cultivated grapes in the Champagne region since 1625. Based in Äy, the family only started to produce wine for themselves in 1990. The current owner of the house is 12th-generation Claude Giraud. His son, Emmanuelle Giraud-Patour manages the company while his son-in-law, Sébastien Le Golvet, is the chef de cave.

Henri Giraud’s top cuvée, Fût de Chêne, is a Pinot Noir-dominant blend with a smaller proportion of Chardonnay, using the ‘Petit Pinot’ clone of Pinot Noir which has been grown solely in Aÿ since 1804. Meanwhile the new Esprit Nature cuvée is a Pinot Noir-dominant blend with Chardonnay and 50% reserve wine, with maturation taking place in small casks and ovoid vats. Production at Henri Giraud is limited to just 250,000 bottles a year – a remarkably small number in comparison with the Grandes Marques, which dictates that demand is always high.
