Duty Charges

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Haut-Brion 1982 is a Pessac-Léognan First Growth red wine from a legendary Bordeaux vintage, presented in magnum. This First Growth is defined by its deep gravel terroir which in 1982 yielded a wine of immense sweetness and power. Now in its fifth decade, the profile has shifted into a profound tertiary phase of cigar box, scorched earth, black truffles and roasted herbs. The magnum format has provided a more gradual evolution, maintaining a core of plum and cassis fruit alongside a velvety, expansive texture. Its tannins are fully resolved, yet the wine retains a remarkable structural grip and a signature smoky finish. This bottling stands as one of the greatest technical achievements of the 20th century.

It is time that the 1982 Haut-Brion got the respect it deserves. Forever deemed the "least" of the First Growth, that holds no water if this example is anything to go by, the best of a couple of dozen bottles encountered over many years. Amazingly-fresh on the nose, this shimmers with red fruit, black olive, meat juices and incense, gaining vigour with each swirl of the glass. The palate is perfectly balanced with a lovely line of acidity, focused and refined with just a slightly roasted character towards the finish. Harmonious and effortless, it is the kind of claret that leaves you grinning like a Cheshire cat. Tasted at the 1982 Dinner at Hatched. Neal Martin27th September 2022

Five years since my last tasting of Haut-Brion 1982, and a pleasure to sink back into these stunning waves of sweet brambled raspberry and blackberry fruits. Tobacco, graphite, gunpowder tea, sandalwood, vanillin, grilled herbs and iodine come in waves, and this was a clear favourite around the table, balancing exuberance with finesse. Going back to the wine after an hour in the glass, it has held up excellently, but the saline tang was much more dominant. The Dillon family had been owners for five decades at this point, with Duchesse de Mouchy as president, and Jean Delmas winemaker as he had been since 1961 (2nd generation of the family to be in the role and one that he would hand over to his own son in 2004). This was also the last vintage before they bought neighbouring La Mission Haut-Brion.Jane Anson25th October 2023

Pessac Leognan's Only First Growth

Grapes are thought to have been grown on the Haut-Brion estate in Pessac-Léognan since the Roman era, while the first recorded mention of the property is in 1423. The wine has had a long, illustrious history and is famously mentioned by Samuel Pepys in his diary of 1663. Nowadays, Haut Brion is considered by many to be one of the finest wines in the world and was ranked in the First Growth category during the 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines.

Renowned for its first wine (40% of production), Haut Brion, the estate also produces a spectacular second wine from young vines, Le Clarence de Haut Brion, in addition to a white, Château Haut-Brion Blanc, the Clarendelle branded wines and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from La Mission). Spanning 53 hectare, the estate is planted to 50 hectares red varieties and 3 hectares white. The reds produced are beautifully balanced and complex, often around 14% abv and made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, typically aged in 80% new oak. The Haut-Brion Blanc meanwhile is a Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc blend, produced in small quantities and aged in a mix of new and one-year oak.
