Crafted from a blend of 55% Sauvignon Blanc and 45% Sémillon, the 2021 Chateau Haut-Brion Blanc captivates the senses with its nose of white flowers, honeysuckle, pineapple, lemon curd, grapefruit rind, and delicate orange blossoms. This extraordinary wine presents a harmonious fusion of opulence, creaminess, and refreshing vibrancy, a testament to its impeccable craftsmanship. Upon savouring, one is met with an alluring array of flavours, where white peach, zesty lemon, and crisp green apples unfurl in a seemingly endless cascade of taste sensations. The finish is a pure delight, boasting a crisp, racy allure heightened by a touch of salinity.
White wine of the vintage, huge depth, makes you want to stop and tell your friends. Citrus, slate, nuanced green apple, white pear, citrus, sage and gunsmoke, all beautifully drawn out through the palate, gorgeous depths from first to last moment, an impressive white that rises vertically. Harvest September 3 to 13. 44% new oak, with lees stirring once a week. 30hl/h yield because some vines impacted by frost. Jean-Philippe Delmas estate director.Jane Anson17th March 2024

The 2021 Haut-Brion Blanc is very closed at this stage, needing a lot of shaking to uncover notes of yuzu, freshly squeezed lemons, lime blossoms, and struck flint, plus hints of wet pebbles and candle wax. The medium-bodied palate is tight-knit and intense, delivering layers of citrus, mineral, and floral notes, with a racy backbone, finishing with long, lingering, chalky notes.Lisa Perrotti-Brown23rd April 2024

The 2021 Haut-Brion Blanc is dense, powerful and explosive. Even so, I suspect it, like the other 2021 whites in the Clarence Dillon stable, is going through a closed phase. The textural richness and volume are evident, though. Slate, crushed rocks, citrus peel, white pepper and mint all come alive in the glass. Sauvignon Blanc energy drives the aromatics and an overall feel of tension, while the mid-palate richness of the 55% Sémillon is felt in the resonating breadth of the finish.Antonio Galloni27th February 2024

Pessac Leognan's Only First Growth
Grapes are thought to have been grown on the Haut-Brion estate in Pessac-Léognan since the Roman era, while the first recorded mention of the property is in 1423. The wine has had a long, illustrious history and is famously mentioned by Samuel Pepys in his diary of 1663. Nowadays, Haut Brion is considered by many to be one of the finest wines in the world and was ranked in the First Growth category during the 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines.
Renowned for its first wine (40% of production), Haut Brion, the estate also produces a spectacular second wine from young vines, Le Clarence de Haut Brion, in addition to a white, Château Haut-Brion Blanc, the Clarendelle branded wines and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from La Mission). Spanning 53 hectare, the estate is planted to 50 hectares red varieties and 3 hectares white. The reds produced are beautifully balanced and complex, often around 14% abv and made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, typically aged in 80% new oak. The Haut-Brion Blanc meanwhile is a Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc blend, produced in small quantities and aged in a mix of new and one-year oak.
