Duty Charges

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Located in Graves, Pessac-Léognan, Château Haut-Brion was awarded First Growth status in the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux and is undoubtedly amongst the very finest producers in Bordeaux. The 2020 vintage is a blend composed of 42.8% Merlot, 39.7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17.5% Cabernet Franc, which reached an ABV of 15%. The hot and dry climate during the summer slowed growth, allowing for perfectly healthy grapes to ripen slowly at harvest and producing rich wines with a wonderful freshness.

The 2020 Haut Brion is a blend of 42.8% Merlot, 39.7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17.5% Cabernet Franc, with a pH of 3.78. Deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with profound blackcurrant cordial, baked plums, and boysenberry preserves notes, leading to an undercurrent of graphite, iron ore, black truffles, and wood smoke, plus a hint of cardamom. The full-bodied palate is tightly knit with black fruit and mineral layers, supported by a rock-solid backbone of grainy tannins and seamless acidity, finishing long and savory.Lisa Perrotti-Brown12th March 2023

The 2020 Haut-Brion has a well-defined, quite cerebral nose—a mélange of red and black fruit, black olive, subtle estuarine scents. The oak is very well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent, almost viscous, very concentrated entry. There's enormous depth here, and though very ripe on the finish, it's perfectly controlled and focused. Where usually Haut-Brion feels rooted in the Left Bank, this is almost Pomerol in its fleshy fruits. Strikingly powerful layers of plum, damson, cocoa, crushed rocks, bitter black chocolate. Easy to see the brilliance of this wine, one to stand back and admire, wiat for those muscular tannins and fresh acidities to melt together over the next few decades. Harvest from 7th to 29th September, 77% new oak.Jane Anson15th February 2023

Full, distinctive, embossed bottle 1,305 g. Cask sample taken 12 April. 42.8% Merlot, 39.7% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17.5% Cabernet Franc. Estimated alcohol 15%. Picked from 7 to 29 September.More obviously aromatic and lifted than the second wine, Le Clarence de Haut-Brion. Intensely seductive nose in fact. Very savoury, tobacco-leaf palate entry and then quite a tingle. Acidity is a feature of the finish. Very muscular indeed but clearly with more flesh and less obvious tannin than La Mission 2020. Almost juicy. Too early for much of the `warm bricks` nose to have developed, I assume. Long and emphatic with a little more zest than Haut-Brion often has at this early stage. (JR)

Pessac Leognan's Only First Growth

Grapes are thought to have been grown on the Haut-Brion estate in Pessac-Léognan since the Roman era, while the first recorded mention of the property is in 1423. The wine has had a long, illustrious history and is famously mentioned by Samuel Pepys in his diary of 1663. Nowadays, Haut Brion is considered by many to be one of the finest wines in the world and was ranked in the First Growth category during the 1855 classification of Bordeaux wines.

Renowned for its first wine (40% of production), Haut Brion, the estate also produces a spectacular second wine from young vines, Le Clarence de Haut Brion, in addition to a white, Château Haut-Brion Blanc, the Clarendelle branded wines and a second white, La Clarté de Haut Brion (which also takes grapes from La Mission). Spanning 53 hectare, the estate is planted to 50 hectares red varieties and 3 hectares white. The reds produced are beautifully balanced and complex, often around 14% abv and made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, typically aged in 80% new oak. The Haut-Brion Blanc meanwhile is a Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc blend, produced in small quantities and aged in a mix of new and one-year oak.
