Founded in 1997 by former stonemason, Michel Gracia. The 2008 release is described by the critic Jane Anson as follows, "This is always a big St-Émilion, and it stays true to brand. Pretty fierce in its extraction, but there is gorgeous juice that pours in alongside the liquorice root, muscular tannins and cassis fruits if you are patient. Drinking Window 2025 - 2040."

One of the most remarkable St.-Emilions of the vintage, the 2008 Gracia (13.5% alcohol) is a candidate for “wine of the year.” Yields were 18 hectoliters per hectare and despite its aging in 100% new oak, the wine shows no evidence of new wood. The final blend was 80% Merlot and the rest mostly Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. The full-bodied 2008 boasts an inky/purple color along with an Ausone-like nose of licorice, truffles, camphor, crushed rocks and blue as well as black fruits. More supple and opulent than the 2010, the 2008 is already beginning to round into shape and should be at its finest in 4-5 years and keep for two decades. Only, 4,700 bottles were produced. — Robert Parker, 2nd May 2011

The 2008 Gracia has a ripe and generous bouquet with black cherries, boysenberry, fig compote and a touch of sage. It is not complex but I admire the definition. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet red fruit and yet the tannins feel edgy and a little angular, so that they don’t quite fit together. I would like more synergy here between the constituent parts. There is a welcome touch of spice on the finish but I was expecting more. Tasted blind. Blackish garnet. Light nose with a leafy suggestion. A bit like fermented blackcurrant fruit gums... Not very subtle with notable acidity. A bit hollow. (JR) — Jancis Robinson, 1st March 2018
