Château Giscours 2009 is a Left Bank Bordeaux from an esteemed Margaux estate. The blend consists of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard, established in the 19th century, is known for its gravelly soil and optimal drainage, contributing to the wine`s structure. This vintage showcases aromas of dark fruit, spice and earthiness. This large-format bottle offers significant potential for further ageing.

The 2009 Giscours has almost exactly the same nose as the last bottles, with hints of curry leaf infusing the black fruit. It still leans a little towards Saint-Julien in style, maybe with some Brettanomyces. Quite classic in style, the palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and graphite-infused black fruit. It's taut and fresh with a persistent finish. Excellent. Neal Martin2nd April 2025

The rich texture is clear visually with its inky plum colour, and this has plenty of ripe damson and black cherry fruit on the attack. Bitter chocolate and smoked turmeric adds opulence, although the tannins remain tight and this is a little abrupt on the finish. Less suave than many 2009s right now, although clear underlying power. First year with Denis Dubourdieu as consultant, 50% new oak for ageing. Harvest September 22 to October 13.Jane Anson10th October 2024
