Giscours 2003 presents a deep garnet color in the glass, hinting at its age. The nose is characterized by ripe black fruit aromas, notably blackberries and plums, layered with subtle notes of cedar and graphite. There’s a presence of earthy undertones combined with a touch of spice, indicative of its Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend. The palate reveals a medium-bodied structure, with fine tannins and a balanced acidity that contributes to the wine`s overall depth.

This Bordeaux from the Margaux appellation has benefited from the warm growing season of 2003, resulting in a wine that is approachable but still capable of further aging. Giscours is classified as a third growth in the 1855 classification, emphasizing the estate`s historical significance. Known for blending terroir-driven characteristics, this vintage showcases a harmonious integration of flavors, making it a notable expression of its region, while also reflecting the challenges and strengths of the conditions that year.

The 2003 Giscours has a slightly Mediterranean bouquet, almost Tuscan, with notes of licorice and mint-infused black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins and low acidity, quite muscular for a Margaux and missing some brightness on the finish. Like many Bordeaux this vintage, it feels a bit "flightless."
