Denis Mortet initially worked alongside his father at Domaine Charles Mortet before assuming winemaking responsibilities in the 1980s. During this period, he forged a lasting friendship with the legendary winemaker Henri Jayer. In 1991, Denis`s father retired, enabling him to establish his own domaine with the inheritance of 4.5 hectares. Unfortunately, Denis passed away in 2006, and the estate is currently managed by his son, Arnaud. This 2000 village-level Gevrey-Chambertin was sourced from old Pinot Noir vines. The vintage of 1999 favoured Burgundy, while 2000 saw Bordeaux in a more favourable light. Nonetheless, this vintage delivered a collection of appealing, fruit-forward, and charming wines.
