Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2009 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine produced from old Pinot Noir vines in the Gevrey-Chambertin commune of th Côte de Nuits. A firm favourite among Burgundy Pinot Noir aficionados, Denis Bachelet (and now his son, Nicolas) works with minimal intervention in the cellar and a farmer`s care and dedication in his 4.3ha of vineyards to produce profound, elegant wines characterised by their concentration and richness of texture. "The Gevrey Chambertin Village is a little reticent on the nose at first, touches bergamot inflecting the crisp dark cherry fruit, touches of limestone beginning to show through. The palate is fresh and lively on the entry, very good acidity with a sorbet-like freshness. Dark cherry, a touch of cassis and blueberry, firm backbone line the filigree finish. Excellent." Wine Advocate, 2011
Vinous
The 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes powers through the palate with an authoritative core of dark fruit. This shows quite a bit of muscle and density. Minerals and crushed rocks wrap around the intense, building finish.
