Some vegy quality on the nose and rather obvious oak on the palate. Not nearly resolved. Rather grainy texture on the end. (JR)Jancis Robinson8th January 2019
Vinous
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles 1er Cru, which is entirely de-stemmed, has a taut, strict bouquet of black rather than red fruit along with crushed rock, almost flinty in style. The palate is sappy on the entry with slightly chalky tannin. There is plenty of tightly wound, marine-infused, briny black fruit here, although like the La Justice, I am seeking more charm to come through on the finish. Not bad, but I have preferred other vintages in the past. Neal Martin1st January 2019

Top Flight Biodynamic Burgundy

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
