Vinous
(50% vendange entier; from 50-year-old vines):Good dark red. Totally different from the La Justice, conveying lovely _calcaire energy to its pungent raspberry and licorice aromas. Intensely flavored and vibrant, showing good inner-mouth chalky tension to its berry and menthol flavors. A cool, high-altitude style with an intriguing peppery salinity. Really vibrates in the middle palate and on the aftertaste. (The Gevrey-Chambertin Bel Air 1er Cru was rich and sweet but too reduced to assess with confidence. )Stephen Tanzer1st January 2016

Top Flight Biodynamic Burgundy

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
