Established at the start of the 20th century, Armand Rousseau is a leading producer in Burgundy, currently managed by Eric Rousseau with the assistance of his daughter Cyriell. The Domaine is based in Gevrey-Chambertin and consists of approximately 15 hectares, over half of which is situated in Grand Cru sites. This release is from the Premier Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques, where Rousseau owns a 0.5-hectare plot. A terroir-driven wine, marked by an earthy, crushed-rock minerality with red fruit and underbrush on both the nose and the palate.
88 Vinous
Medium red. Pure, fruity aromas of red berries and flowers. Integrated acidity gives a tangy character and lovely aromatic lift to the juicy red fruit and spice flavors. Not the last word in complexity but offers lovely perfume and precision. A very good year for this cold terroir, notes Rousseau.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2011
