Duty Charges

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Founded at the start of the 20th century, Armand Rousseau is a leading wine producer in Burgundy, currently managed by Eric Rousseau with the assistance of his daughter Cyriell. The Domaine is based in Gevrey-Chambertin and consists of approximately 15 hectares, over half of which is situated in Grand Cru sites. This release is from the Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques, where Rousseau owns a 2.2-hectare plot. Named after a statue of Saint James that had been placed in the area, the vineyard is regarded as a Grand Cru by wine critics such as Clive Coates and Jancis Robinson.

Given the year, a couple of special bottles were necessary. First up was my last bottle of 2009 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru from Domaine Armand Rousseau. I had not tasted this particular wine since I encountered it from barrel. Back then, I was not quite as enamored of it as I expected, partly because the nuances of the terroir are obscured by the warmth of the growing season. Now, with a few years on the clock, I still believe that it is a good rather than great Clos Saint-Jacques. Powerful scents of red cherries, licorice and allspice feature on the nose, which does not quite achieve the delineation of the best examples I have tasted. Likewise, the palate is delicious as a Pinot Noir but falls short of evincing Clos Saint-Jacques as “a Grand Cru in all but name.” Presenting soft red berry fruit, hints of sage and bay leaf, it comes across more sinewy than other vintages, with a touch of meat juices on the finish. It is certainly drinking now and should give another decade of pleasure at this level, but Eric Rousseau and now his daughter Cyrielle have made better Clos Saint-Jacques. For four generations, the Rousseau family have worked tirelessly and passionately on some of the finest terroirs of the Côte de Nuits. Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, the domaine unquestionably sits amongst the greats of Burgundy with a portfolio of wines from some of the most revered vineyards in the region.

The domaine covers 15 hectares and three acres. Well-known for producing finely structured Pinot Noir reds of great elegance and remarkable longevity, the flagship Chambertin Grand Cru is extremely sought after.
