Emidio Pepe Trebbiano d`Abruzzo 2007 is a medium-bodied white wine from the Abruzzo region of central Italy. One of the cult modern Italian wine producers, Emidio Pepe was a pioneer of high-quality bottled wine in the Abruzzo region in the 1980s. Consistently working with organic methods in the vineyards and a minimal-intervention philosophy in the cellar, without oak (even for reds, for which concrete tanks are preferred for elevage, Emidio Pepe works with traditional Abruzzo varieties Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Pecorino. "Bright golden-tinged straw. Complex nose of apricot, quince, flint and mint. Dense, suave and juicy, with a multilayered quality to its flinty-mineral and orchard fruit flavours. There’s no telling the age of the 2007 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne from its color alone, boasting a vibrant golden hue. It bursts from the glass with a potent mix of lemon oils, pungent florals, rosemary and confectionery tangerine. For all of its aromatic intensity, it's incredibly savory on the palate, mineral and flinty in style, almost like liquid stone, yet has a core of vivid pear that balances the expression out perfectly. The 2007 tapers off a bit shorter than anticipated while leaving a saline tension that lingers long. This was a warm vintage; however, well-timed rains during July helped keep the fruit healthy and ripen at an even pace.
