A true icon of Abruzzo and a pioneer of minimal intervention winemaking. Every part of production is performed painstakingly by hand. Organic, biodynamic, no oak and minimal sulphur. From a sensational vintage this is a charming wine with endless layers of dark fruit, earth and spice.

Vinous
The 2007 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Vecchie Vigne is quite closed in the glass, only showing dusty rose, dried cherries, violets and brown spice nuances. On the palate is where it truly impresses. Vibrant acidity enlivens masses of red berries and inner florals, while silky textures give way to a staining of mineral intensity. Dried citrus and adolescent tannins linger long under an air of autumn leaves and undergrowth, which is the only sign of the 2007’s maturity, yet the endnote here is fresh. Since the aromatics evolve at a snail's pace, make sure to give this a good decanting before jumping in. That said, it's an incredibly pretty wine. Eric Guido20th October 2022
