Château du Tertre 2009 is a mature Left Bank Bordeaux blend predominantly comprising Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a lesser percentage of Cabernet Franc. The wine offers a notable balance, showcasing blackcurrant and plum notes alongside hints of cedar and earth. This Fifth Growth Margaux producer is recognised for its unique vineyard composition, achieving an often higher percentage of Cabernet Franc compared with other Médoc estates. This vintage features a ripe fruit character, characterised by a structured yet accessible profile, appropriate for early consumption or moderate ageing.

The medium garnet colored 2009 du Tertre conjures notions of kirsch, black raspberries, warm plums and potpourri on the nose with hints of sage and menthol. The palate is medium-bodied, soft, juicy and seductively approachable with a lively finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

The 2009 du Tertre has a slightly smudged pencil box and autumn bonfire scented bouquet. A little rough-hewn compared to its peers. The palate is better with chewy and quite saturated tannin, plenty of spicy black fruit with sage, white pepper and graphite, leading to a ferrous finish. I have found this Margaux vexing and inconsistent since release. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. Neal Martin1st March 2019
