It is thought that Domaine de l’Eglise was founded in the 16th century and could be the oldest vineyard in the entire Pomerol appellation. The domaine’s 2009 release is complex on the nose with dark fruit character, sweet spice and gently truffled nuances leading to a rounded palate with silky tannins.

Good deep red with ruby highlights. Delicate aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum and spices on the floral, perfumed nose. Suave and smooth, with a refined, pure quality to the redcurrant, cedar and tobacco flavors. Hardly a blockbuster, this very nicely balanced wine finishes smooth, with fine-grained, pliant tannins. This rather delicate wine should offer plenty of early pleasure.Ian d'Agata1st May 2010
