Domaine de Chevalier 2002 is a Pessac-Léognan blend renowned for its complexity and structure. This wine features a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, showcasing the estate`s commitment to craftsmanship. The vineyard benefits from gravelly soil, which provides excellent drainage and influences the wine`s character. In this vintage, the oak integration is precise, supporting the fruit without overwhelming it. The tannins are fine and present, offering a backbone for the wine`s development.

The 2002 Domaine de Chevalier has more intensity in the nose compared to the 2003 with gorgeous scents of blackberry, briary, cedar and leather that simply blossom in the glass in classic style. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin, a fine line of acidity, full of tension right from the start. There is impressive fruit concentration here with brambly red fruit, plenty of spice and black pepper flourishing on the finish. This 2002 seems to have a new lease of life and is easily the finest example that I have encountered. Tasted blind at the Domaine de Chevalier vertical at the property. Neal Martin27th September 2022

This is a delicate, lighter-styled effort revealing ethereal aromas of smoked herbs, red currants, cherries, and loamy soil. Medium-bodied, pleasant, but somewhat superficial, this is a vintage of diminished value to drink now and over the next 8-10 years. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
