Dom Ruinart Rosé 1998 is a blend primarily composed of Chardonnay (approximately 80%) integrated with Pinot Noir (around 20%) sourced from Grands Crus across the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. This vintage exhibits a delicate orange-pink hue. On the nose, it presents aromas of dried red fruits, subtle citrus notes and hints of toasted brioche. The palate reveals a complex interplay of strawberry, red berry nuances and an undercurrent of mineral depth. Ruinart, established in 1729, is renowned for being the oldest established Champagne house.

The 1998 Dom Ruinart Rosé is in the zone. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, incense, licorice, dried herbs, chocolate, orange peel and game lend a decidedly exotic flair. The 1998 is perhaps a touch lithe, but it is so expressive. The blend includes 20% still Pinot, and that very much comes through in the wine's strong smoky/gamey Pinot notes. All things considered, the 1998 has aged very well. Antonio Galloni8th April 2025

Ruinart

One of Champagne's Oldest

Founded in Reims in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart (the nephew of legendary Benedictine monk Dom Ruinart), Ruinart is one of the oldest champagne houses in France. The Ruinart style is characterised by its supreme elegance and finesse. A key cuvée is the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs - the house’s signature champagne - made using 100% Chardonnay grapes from vineyards in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims.

The Chardonnay variety is at the heart of all of the house's cuvees, including the Ruinart Rosé Brut, which is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, mostly sourced from Premier Cru vineyards, in addition to the Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and the Ruinart Brut.
