Digby Fine English Vintage Reserve Brut 2014 is a mature vintage English sparkling wine produced by Digby. This wine is crafted from 60% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, sourced from premium vineyards across Sussex and Hampshire. It underwent secondary fermentation in bottle and spent over six years on lees, contributing to its complex profile. Expect notes of fresh citrus and subtle stone fruit, balanced with a distinct mineral edge.

Full bottle 1,601 g. 62% Chardonnay, 21% Pinot Noir, 17% Pinot Meunier. Fruit from Hampshire, Dorset, Kent and Sussex, some on greensand and some on clay. Primary fermentation is 88% stainless steel, 12% old French oak. Chardonnay undergoes full malo, no malo on the other varieties. Disgorged 12 September 2024 (handwritten on label). Eight years sur lattes. Dosage 8 g/l.
The acidity is so staccato, so firm, so directional that it feels haptic – I am sure I can hear it snapping like a camera shutter in my mouth. Slicing light. A thousand quick and tiny snapshots of flavour in pixels of cream, lemon, grapefruit, pip, pith, paprika smoke, sour cherry. It was stunningly good with the full-fat French Pave d`Affinois, the buttery cheese bringing out the most astounding acacia-honey and honeysuckle sweetness and grace in the wine. (TC)
