Dalla Valle Maya 2009 is a mature Bordeaux-style red wine from Dalla Valle Vineyards, established by Gustav and Naoko Dalla Valle in 1982 in Oakville, Napa Valley. This vintage typically features a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, highlighting the unique characteristics of the year’s growing conditions. Expect aromas of blackcurrant and plum, intertwined with hints of tobacco and earth. The palate reflects this complexity, offering structured tannins and a lengthy finish.
99 The Wine Independent
Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2009 Maya needs a little coaxing to bring out scents of blackberry pie and blackcurrant pastilles leading to touches of pencil shavings, lavender, and underbrush. The full-bodied palate delivers impactful black and red berry flavors laced with baking spice notes and supported by velvety tannins, finishing with wonderful tension and length.Lisa Perrotti-Brown28th February 2024
95 Vinous
Bright, saturated ruby to the rim. Black fruit and baking spice aromas are complicated by deeper, musky soil-driven minerality. Enters the mouth thicker than the Napa Valley bottling but maintains its shape and definition through to the finish. Lovely integrated acidity gives verve and definition to the dark berry, spice and graphite flavors, with notes of violet and tropical dark chocolate contributing to the overall impression of energy. Really stains the palate and resounds on the aftertaste, with the granular, building tannins ultimately sweeter than those of the Napa Valley version. Outstanding depth of flavor here.Stephen Tanzer1st July 2019
