Cuvée Frédéric Émile Trimbach 1997 is a dry Riesling sourced from the Grand Cru vineyards of Geisberg and Osterberg in Alsace. This vintage exhibits a bright acidity, complemented by a mineral backbone derived from the region`s diverse soils. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo strict selection processes, which is a hallmark of Trimbach’s winemaking methods. Founded in 1626, Trimbach is renowned for its commitment to Riesling, with the family bottling wines considered benchmarks in Alsace. This wine is suited for enjoying now or for further ageing over the next two to three decades.

The tightly wound, aromatically floral 1997 Riesling Frederic-Emile will not be released for at least another two years because this firm believes in marketing their wines as they reach maturity. Its rich, medium body reveals superb complexity, purity, and admirable length. This is a backward, silky-textured, chalk/mineral-dominated wine with extraordinary balance and focus. Projected maturity. 2002-2012+. - Pierre Rovani
87 Vinous
(7.2 g/l total acidity; 3.1 pH; 4.2 g/l residual sugar): Medium straw. Forward aromas of yellow peach, baked apple and licorice. Easygoing, soft flavors of peach and apple appear to be less sharply defined than usual for this wine, but linger persistently on the rather diffuse finish. A honeyed minerality emerged with aeration, adding to the wine's interest. This struck me as less dense and more forward than most of the vintages in this vertical tasting.Ian d'Agata1st September 2013
