Crozes-Hermitage Blanc Domaine de Roure 2009 is a dry white wine from Jaboulet’s old Marsanne vines in Gervans. The granitic slope produces concentrated but not heavy fruit which in 2009 ripened fully yet retained enough acidity for balance. Slow fermentation in large neutral oak stabilised texture without adding overt flavour. Bottle ageing has brought the variety’s characteristic wax and almond notes into line with the wine’s mineral spine. The 2009 now shows a mature but settled profile shaped by site and a warm year.

(100% marsanne) Bright gold. High-pitched, assertively perfumed bouquet displays orange zest, green apple and honeysuckle, with a strong overlay of smoky minerals. Dry and brisk, with deeply concentrated but weightless citrus fruit and melon flavors and excellent tangy cut. This nervy, precise wine finishes with impressive clarity and a lingering floral quality.Josh Raynolds1st January 2011
