Hailing from the Charente region of France, this historical Cognac reflects the traditions established by Courvoisier, a house favoured by the French imperial court. Distilled in 1882, it presents an ABV of approximately 40%. This rare expression has matured for over 140 years, resulting in a complex profile that includes rancio, dried Mission Figs, and honeyed tobacco. The mouthfeel is both weightless and intense, leading to a persistent finish. This spirit encapsulates the craftsmanship and heritage of Courvoisier, illustrating the potential for depth and aromatic finesse through long-term maturation in high-quality oak. A remarkable representation of 19th-century distilling practices.

An Historic House

Established in the early 1800s by Emmanuel Courvoisier, who was born in 1789 in Jarnac, in the heart of the Cognac region in south-west France. Courvoisier sources eaux-de-vie from the following crus to create their blends - Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fin Bois. Distillation takes place between November and March - the spirit is double-distilled in Charentais alembic copper pot stills before barrel ageing takes place in Tronçais oak.

Alongside a core range than extends from VS to XO, Courvoisier has issued a number of limited editions and special releases, including a notable collaboration with Russian-born artist Erté.
