The Côtes du Rhône Guigal Magnum 2010 is a notable example of Southern Rhône winemaking, crafted by the renowned Guigal estate, established in 1946. This wine is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. On the palate, it reveals balance and structure, with dark fruit and subtle spice notes, well intergrated tannins and still a fresh acidity. Guigal is known for its commitment to quality and tradition, making this Magnum a representation of their meticulous approach to winemaking. Ideal for collectors and typically robust in character.
90 Vinous
(50% syrah, with grenache and a bit of mourvedre): Opaque ruby. Smoky cherry and black raspberry aromas are complicated by olive, allspice and licorice, with a sexy floral quality in the background. Sappy dark berry and lavender pastille flavors display impressive depth and power without excess weight. Closes sweet, gently tannic and long, with lingering spice and floral pastille notes.

Benchmark for Côte-Rôtie excellence

Founded in the village of Ampuis by Etienne Guigal in 1946, Domaine Guigal is one of the most revered and unwaveringly consistent estates in the Rhône Valley, and is often seen as a benchmark for Côte-Rôtie Syrah. A pioneer of the single-vineyard concept in this appellation Guigal is best known for its top three wines, known affectionately as the 'La-Las', which is short for La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque – the domaine's top Syrah vineyards .

Other notable vineyards of this 75-hectare estate include La Doriane (the source of Guigal's Condrieu), Ex-Voto (used for Hermitage) and Vignes de l'Hospice (the source of one of Guigal's top St-Joseph Syrahs). All of these have become benchmark wines of their respective appellations. The Crozes-Hermitage appellation completes the roster of Northern Rhône estate vineyards.

Since 2006, Guigal has made a substantial investment in appellations of the Southern Rhône, using top-quality purchased fruit from trusted growers in Châteaneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and the Côtes du Rhône.
