The Côte-Rôtie from Domaine Michel & Stéphane Ogier is typically a blend of Syrah and a small amount of Viognier, which adds aromatic complexity to the wine. It is known for its distinctive notes of black fruit, spices, floral elements, and a noticeable mineral backbone. The 2007 vintage in the Northern Rhône was characterized by warm weather conditions, resulting in ripe and opulent wines.
93 Jancis Robinson
The 2007 Cote Rotie, an outstanding success in this vintage where this estate harvested extremely late in order to take advantage of the Indian Summer weather. The wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as scents of licorice, subtle oak, black currants, black cherries and hints of underbrush/forest floor. Spicy, opulent, voluptuous and flamboyant, it should continue to provide plenty of pleasure for a dozen years or more.
One of France’s most brilliant small artisanal wineries is that of the Ogier family in Ampuis, situated about six blocks north of Guigal’s vast network of underground cellars. The value picks are the wines made from the steep hillsides north of the old Roman settlement of Vienne.

92 Vinous
Saturated ruby. Aromas of raspberry, cassis, violet and bitter chocolate show a smoky undertone. Rich and sweet but more closed in the mouth than on the nose, with lush red and dark berry preserve and dark chocolate flavors. Finishes supple and aromatic, with good smoky persistence and velvety tanninsJosh Raynolds1st January 2010
