Rostaing Côte-Rôtie La Landonne 2009 is a full-bodied, single-vineyard red wine produced in the Côte-Rôtie appellation of the northern Rhône Valley. Under the guidance of René Rostaing and his son Pierre, Domaine Rostaing has gained a reputation for producing exceptional Syrah-based wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region. The famed La Landonne vineyard is characterised by its steep, terraced slopes and iron-rich clay and schist soils. This terroir results in wines with remarkable depth, concentration and structure. La Landonne can be enjoyed in its youth, but it will reward those who have the patience to cellar it, as the wine will evolve and reveal more nuanced flavours and aromas. "I continue to just love this vintage, and the 2009 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne from René is a sensational bottle of wine that northern Rhône lovers should seek out. Beautifully concentrated, yet fresh and elegant, with full-bodied aromas and flavours of black raspberries, spring flowers, crushed rocks and spice, it’s already approachable (which is unusual by this cuvée’s standards) and can be drunk anytime over the coming two decades." Bright ruby. Black and blue fruits on the nose and palate, with an array of spice and floral qualities adding dimension. Rich but very lively, with impressive intensity and concentration but no sense of heaviness. Supple tannins add shape to the extremely long finish, which features notes of star anise, candied violet and cracked pepper.
