Ferraton`s L`Eglantine is a fruit-driven expression of Côte-Rôtie, made from Syrah grown on the appellation`s steep granite terraces and raised with a light touch of oak to preserve freshness. The 2007 vintage was a cooler, more classic year in the Northern Rhône, giving a wine of medium body rather than power. Expect violet, black olive and cracked pepper aromas, with silky red and black fruit on the palate. Fully mature now; drink with roast lamb or duck.

Vinous
Vivid red. Ripe cherry and dark berries on the nose, with hints of pipe tobacco and licorice. Pungent berry skin and bitter cherry flavors are joined by smoky minerals as the wine opens in the glass. For a rich wine this is showing very good vivacity and focus, and the finish is long and sappy. This has gained power and structure since last year.Josh Raynolds1st January 2010
