Côte-Rôtie Cote Blonde Rostaing 2004 is a Syrah red wine from one of the most prestigious parcels in the Northern Rhône, known for its limestone-rich gneiss soils that produce wines of exceptional elegance. This vintage is a classically styled wine, offering high-toned aromatics of violets, apricots, and white pepper, supported by a core of silky red fruit. Unlike the brawnier La Landonne, the Cote Blonde is defined by its lace-like texture and floral lift. Rene Rostaing’s traditional winemaking, including whole-cluster fermentation, has resulted in a wine with incredible aromatic complexity and integrated, fine-grained tannins. Now fully mature, it displays tertiary layers of truffle and smoke, remaining a benchmark for the more delicate side of Côte-Rôtie.

Bright red. Explosive, intensely perfumed bouquet encompasses smoky red and dark berries, cherry, fresh and dried flowers and an intriguing minerality. Deep in concentrated blackberry and raspberry preserve flavors but also boasts superb freshness and clarity. The bright, tangy finish doesn't want to quit, throwing off notes of floral pastille, graphite, tobacco and sweet red and dark berries. The wine's tannins are overwhelmed by sweet fruit.Josh Raynolds1st January 2007
