The 2017 Côte de Beaune Les Pierres Blanches Blanc, which finishes its maturation in stainless steel after almost a year in barrel, has an attractive bouquet with scents of white peach, mango and a slight pine cone aroma. The palate is well balanced but simple, lightly honeyed in texture, featuring subtle tropical fruit of peach and pineapple chunks, the latter defining the finish. Drink this over the next two or three years. Neal Martin1st January 2019

Top Flight Biodynamic Burgundy

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
