Cos d`Estournel 2000 is a full-bodied Left Bank Bordeaux from the St-Estèphe appellation. This wine showcases aromas of blackcurrants with underlying notes of cedar and spice. The palate presents a structured profile with firm tannins and a balance of fruit and acidity, indicative of its long ageing potential. With a legacy of innovation, Château Cos d`Estournel is known for its unique architectural style and unconventional winemaking practices. This large-format bottle benefits from extended maturation, making it a compelling option for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Decanting is advisable prior to tasting.

High floral aromatics, and fully melted tannins that welcome you in. Cigar box, sandalwood, tobacco, damson, fully in its drinking window, black liquorice and soy. 100% new oak. First vintage of Michel Reybier as owner, having bought the estate from the (brief tenure) of a Taillan-South American joint venture, and before that the long-term owner Bruno Prats. Jean-Guillaume Prats remained in place at the time as director, with today's technical director Dominique Arangoits joined also in 2000. Plenty of deposit so make sure you carafe carefully.Jane Anson18th June 2026

Composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2000 Cos d'Estournel has a medium brick color and a fragrant perfume of powdered cinnamon, incense, rose oil, and unsmoked cigars, leading to a core of dried cherries and mulberries with a touch of cardamom. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly crafted and silky with a refreshing line and perfumed finish. Very pretty and it’s drinking beautifully now!Lisa Perrotti-Brown14th March 2024

The 2000 Cos d’Estournel, which never quite grabbed me from barrel, is maturing nicely in bottle. As it approaches two decades, it continues to offer an intense, almost ambitious bouquet with blackberry, hints of dark chocolate, tobacco and scorched earth. Both vigor and delineation is present here. The palate is medium-bodied rather than full-bodied these days, very well balanced if not possessing the poise and precision of the 2001. It fans out with confidence towards the finish that is lithe, yet provides sufficient grip and persistence to suggest it will give another two decades of drinking pleasure. Tasted at the Cos d’Estournel vertical in London.Neal Martin23rd December 2024
