`Jadot Corton Pougets 2006 is a medium-bodied red wine from the Grand Cru climat of Corton in the Côte de Beaune. Maison Louis Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, offering a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Cru expressions. The company is today run by Pierre-Henri Gagey, assisted by head winemaker Frédéric Barnier. On the 2006 Corton Pougets. "The Jadot 2006 Corton Pougets reflects Corton at its strictest, purest, and most mineral. A dense sense of chalkiness is threaded with veins of tart red raspberry fruit, but firm - albeit fine - tannins heighten a sense of austerity, and this finishes with rectitude and penetration. The makings of a superb wine are here, if this loosens up and becomes more diversely expressive." Wine Advocate, 2009

- Bright medium red. Highly perfumed nose combines red berries, cherry, dried flowers, spices and earth. Precise but quite tightly wound, with an almost medicinal austerity to its flavors of minerals, flowers, spices and mint. Offer lovely inner-mouth perfume and verve but not quite the volume of a top grand cru. But this rather feminine style of Corton finishes with excellent grip and length.
