Domaine de la Vougeraie Corton Clos du Roi 2005 is a Grand Cru Pinot Noir from a steep, east-facing parcel with iron-rich red clay soils. This biodynamically farmed site, planted in the early 1950s, yields a wine that combines the muscularity of Corton with a refined, earthy complexity. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged in French oak, the wine has evolved slowly to maintain its aromatic precision. This 2005 release is currently in a prime drinking window, offering a powerful yet harmonious expression of one of the finest climats on the Hill of Corton.

Top Flight Biodynamic Burgundy

Located between the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune in Prémeaux, Domaine de la Vougeraie was founded by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1999. The name was inspired by domaine’s significant vineyard holdings in the village of Vougeot, which is also Boisset’s home.

One of Burgundy’s leading domaines, Vougeraie owns about 40ha of vineyard in more than 30 different appellations of Burgundy, including the Grands Crus of Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Charmes Chambertin, Mazoyères, Corton Clos du Roi and Corton Charlemagne. The domaine vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2001. The highest possible production values and strictest levels of quality control, including a state-of-the-art sorting table, are maintained for the domaine’s entire range of wines. The domaine’s general manager, Sylvie Poillot, has managed the winemaking team since Pierre Vincent departed for Domaine Leflaive.
