Corton-Charlemagne Patrick Javillier 2008 is a Grand Cru Burgundy from a small holding in the esteemed Corton hill. This wine is composed entirely of Chardonnay, showcasing the vineyard`s typical characteristics. The vintage features high acidity and a precise balance, resulting in a mineral-driven profile marked by notes of flint, green apple and lemon zest. Patrick Javillier, who has been crafting wines in Burgundy since the 1980s, places a strong emphasis on site expression. The Corton-Charlemagne vineyard, with its limestone-rich soils, contributes to the wine`s linear structure and age-worthy qualities, demanding patience for full integration of its prominent mineral nuances.

Vinous
Bright pale yellow. Aromas of lemon, lime, clove, nutmeg and crushed stone, with a hint of cherry-almond. Fat, concentrated and sweet; almost heavy for Corton-Charlemagne yet nicely aromatic in the middle palate, with a suggestion of red berries. This very broad and ripe wine, from vines in Les Pougets facing full south, finishes with notes of menthol and crushed stone and an almost tannic impression. A good example of a Corton-Charlemagne that's almost like a red wine in its structure.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2010
