Domaine Patrick Javillier Corton-Charlemagne 2000 is a Burgundy white wine from the Grand Cru of Corton-Charlemagne on the hill of Corton in the Côte de Beaune. Since establishing his domaine in the 1990s, Patrick Javillier has emerged as one of the finest winemakers in Meursault. Typically his Chardonnays wines are racked from barrel after a year to steel tank, where they are matured further on fine lees. The Corton-Charlemagne is the exception, spending a second winter in one-year-old oak barrels.
92 Vinous
(only 4 barrels made with fruit from Corton-Pougets, two of which were new and employed for 12 months of aging, after which the wine was then transferred to older barrels for another 6 months). Trace of pain grille introduces green apple, white flower and wet stone scents together with intense, rich, pungent flavors that manage to remain detailed and this finishes with a good deal of finesse despite the substantial size and weight. Already harmonious and this is cool, racy and completely classic in style. A seriously impressive effort.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2003

Rich but not focused. Fat, full and molten. Lacks nerve and has a slightly muddy finish but it's certainly not a disgrace. (JR)Jancis Robinson14th November 2002
