Situated in Pernand-Vergelesses, Domaine Bonneau du Martray is the only estate in Burgundy to make wines exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards, Corton and Corton-Charlemagne. Their Corton Grand Cru is typically aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, followed by another 6 months in stainless steel tanks, before being finally bottled. Expect a full-bodied wine, suggesting notes of strawberries and cherries, hints of forest floor and some peat smoke on the finish.

The 2016 Corton Grand Cru is showing well from bottle, unwinding in the glass to blow off a light touch of youthful reduction, revealing aromas of cassis, spices and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and nicely concentrated, with juicy acids, powdery tannins and good length on the finish. The 2016 can`t match the depth and amplitude of the 2015 rendition, but it`s a very good effort. - William Kelly (2019)

- The 2016 Corton Grand Cru shows a little reduction on the nose, although not to the same degree as others in this flight. The palate is medium-bodied with thick tannin, black cherry and cassis fruit with a blood orange note towards the sorbet-like finish. It just feels too sweet and does not urge you back for another sip. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
