Domaine Georges Vernay Condrieu Coteau de Vernon is a Viognier white wine from the Northern Rhône. This 2003 release is a historic bottling from the estate’s most famous vineyard, often regarded as the birthplace of the Condrieu appellation. The vines here are over 50 years old and sit on decomposed granite soils known as arzelle, which provide a unique mineral imprint. The 2003 vintage was defined by a legendary heatwave, producing a wine of massive scale and unctuous richness with very low acidity. It displays notes of honeyed peach, gingerbread and dried jasmine, maintaining a remarkable sense of place despite the extreme warmth of the growing year.

Vinous
Aromas of ripe peach, yellow plum, and nutty, spicy oak. The most intensely flavored of this trio, with unusual richness and fat for this cuvee At once very ripe and very suave, with impressive precision for the vintage and lovely lift and grip on the back end. This was also slated for a December bottling.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2005
