Founded by Ann Colgin in 1992, Colgin Cellars is known for its small-lot, high-quality production, ensuring a careful focus on every bottle. The 2004 IX Estate Proprietary Blend is a well-crafted red, blending Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc in the Bordeaux style. The wine displays a complex profile, with rich dark fruit flavours, subtle earthy notes, and structured tannins. Colgin`s attention to detail is evident in this wine, which reflects the unique terroir of Howell Mountain, offering a balanced and elegant expression of their estate vineyards.

(15.6% alcohol): Good deep red. Rather exotic nose combines scents of hard candy, wild sage, iron, burning embers, cayenne and tangerine; more red than black in character.Lush, seamless and sweet in the mouth but not as deep as the Cariad. Finishes broad and a bit soft, with substantial dusty tannins.Stephen Tanzer1st June 2015
