Domaine Anne Gros Clos Vougeot Le Grand Maupertuis 2015 is a full-bodied Burgundy red wine from the Grand Cru of Le Grand Maupertuis in the Côte de Nuits. Located in Vosne-Romanée, Domaine Anne Gros covers a total of 6.5 hectares across nine appellations. Anne Gros is part of an extensive winemaking family in the area who joined her father François at the family estate in 1988. "Aromas of black cherry and raspberry along with cooler notes of herbs, mint and flowers. Enters the mouth with plush, sweet dark berry fruit, but an impression of gingery lift and a firm spine of racy acidity energize the middle palate. Ultimately quite backward and imploded, even if the wine`s serious tannins are fine-grained and noble. This very long Clos Vougeot finishes with a strong impression of medicinal reserve." (13.7% alcohol, after multiple tiny additions of sugar totaling just 0.2% to prolong the fermentation, according to Anne Gros; aged in 70% new oak): Medium red. Fresh, pure but reticent aromas of raspberry, spices and earth. Very ripe but initially reserved, hinting at wild raspberry, soil and dark chocolate. Aeration brought building inner-mouth perfume, revealing the wine's superb sappy depth and spicy lift. Not demonstrative today but one can sense the serious underlying structure of this wine, not to mention its rare combination of density and finesse of texture. Finishes with sexy sweetness, tangy tannins and terrific length.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2018

The 2015 Clos Vougeot le Grand Maupertui has a distinctly more floral bouquet than many others than I tasted from barrel, iris and crushed violet petals infusing the black cherry and blueberry fruit. I admire the precision and terroir expression here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe, red and black fruit, a hint of mulberry and white pepper developing in the glass. It has a grainy texture, firm structure and natural balance and poise on the sustained finish. Persistent in the mouth, this is an excellent Clos Vougeot from Anne Gros.Neal Martin28th December 2016
